📋 Description

• Survey candidate video-capable VLMs and determine best starting point
• Apply model optimization for on-device deployment (quantization, pruning, distillation
• Deploy model on real mobile hardware with on-device inference library
• Compare optimisation paths and evaluate against server-side captions quality
• Document findings and map on-device viability vs. limitations
• Prepare patent filing and a paper publication

🎯 Requirements

• Strong Python and hands-on PyTorch experience, incl. training/fine-tuning VLMs
• Solid understanding of modern vision-language/multimodal architectures
• Experience with optimisation methods like quantisation, pruning, distillation
• Experience deploying models on-device or at the edge with runtimes (Core ML, LiteRT/TFLite, ONNX
• Experience running a research project end to end: planning, measuring, iterating
• Current enrolment in a PhD in ML/CS or related field, with first-author papers in venues like
