📋 Description

• Set architectural direction for large-scale wearable models across sensors, text, and biomarkers.
• Identify research bets in self-supervised/representation learning; drive them to production.
• Shape WHOOP AI strategy, platform, compute, and infrastructure standards.
• Collaborate across research, product, and engineering to tie breakthroughs to outcomes.
• Mentor and raise the technical bar; grow staff and strengthen design-review norms.
• Represent WHOOP externally for recruiting, partnerships, and visibility.

🎯 Requirements

• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) with extensive ML/AI research.
• Track record of owning technical direction and architecture with lasting impact.
• Translate ambiguous research to production impact; know when to stop.
• Deep expertise in transformers and state-space models.
• Multimodal training and self-supervised/representation learning.
• RL-based post-training (PPO/DPO/GRPO) and distributed training.
