Principal Design Systems Designer

📋 Description

• Build design system foundations for on-brand, accessible UI.
• Define information architecture: naming, taxonomy, component hierarchy, docs.
• Plan and prioritize work with design, engineering, and leadership.
• Define and ship a scalable token strategy syncing Figma, code tokens, Storybook.
• Collaborate with Front-End engineers to translate to reusable components with accessible APIs.
• Own the component lifecycle: versioning, release notes, deprecations, handoffs.

🎯 Requirements

• Owned a design system end-to-end and drove adoption.
• Deep fluency with design-to-code integration: tokens, APIs, versioning, syncing.
• Track record of driving adoption with builder-friendly processes.
• Strong frontend concepts and collaboration with engineers on tradeoffs.
• Experience setting accessibility standards and shipping WCAG components.
• Hands-on AI-assisted design workflows with Cursor or Claude Code.
