• Set AI up to succeed through context engineering and architecting systems with clean interfaces
• Review and choose well, reading far more code than you write, catching silent assumptions, security
• Work with non-determinism, using evals, golden datasets, structured outputs and fallback paths
• Communicate clearly and frequently (documents, decisions, post-mortems, design notes)
• Make decisions and own them, being willing to be a benevolent dictator when it is your turn
• Mentor in AI fluency, not just code: tooling, prompting and review discipline
