Principal Infrastructure Architect

📋 Description

• Define and own hardware architectures for next-gen compute across CPU, GPU, and storage.
• Serve as primary technical stakeholder for infrastructure tech with Product and Hardware Eng.
• Provide leadership in hardware selection and qualification processes.
• Evangelize emerging tech concepts to senior leadership to inform strategy.
• Architect end-to-end server designs with vendors for CPU, GPU, and workloads.
• Architect end-to-end storage topologies with vendors for perf, capacity, and archival tiers.
• Lead PoCs for emerging infrastructure tech and scale pilots into standards.
• Mentor engineers and foster technical excellence and impact.
• Represent DigitalOcean at conferences and in technical papers.

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years in server/storage architecture with deployments at scale.
• Deep expertise in server and storage hardware from commodity CPUs to rack-scale GPU/xPU.
• Experience driving AI/ML hardware roadmaps and translating trends into platform designs.
• Knowledge of CXL memory pooling, DPUs/SmartNICs, disaggregated and computational storage.
• Proven ability to lead PoCs and scale pilots into global deployment standards.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with technical and business teams and external vendors.
