Principal Research Scientist - Risk

📋 Description

• Lead Neara’s applied research function for infrastructure risk and resilience.
• Direct a team of researchers; set standards for risk modeling and uncertainty quantification.
• Develop predictive models for equipment damage, vegetation failure, outage likelihood and duration
• Design decision models for resilience investments, including asset replacement and network redesign.
• Quantify the value of data and remote sensing capabilities for asset management.

🎯 Requirements

• PhD in statistics, applied mathematics, physics, CS, OR, engineering, or similar.
• Proven leadership of a substantial research program (publications, patents, or production systems).
• Experience building technical teams and setting research directions.
• Expertise in probabilistic modeling, uncertainty quantification, validation, and decision-making
• Experience modeling operational systems in utilities, insurance, or climate risk contexts.
