Principal Software Engineer (Athena)

📋 Description

• Set technical direction for Athena data pipelines and clearing house.
• Define transition from rapid prototyping to production-grade stack with observability.
• Partner with staff engineers to establish domain ownership and standards.
• Lead design of systems processing unstructured vulnerability reports, dedupe.
• Identify and retire technical debt from high-velocity prototyping.
• Advise on build-vs-buy, capacity planning, and long-term architectural bets.

🎯 Requirements

• Track record of setting direction for complex, production-facing distributed systems.
• Deep fluency in Go and experience with GCP and Terraform.
• Work with unstructured data: validate, deduplicate, extract signals.
• Experience transitioning prototypes to maintainable systems with monitoring/SLOs/on-call.
• Built systems serving multiple customer types with entitlements and access levels.
• Comfort across full backend stack: workflows, data pipelines, APIs.
