Principal Software Engineer, Data Engineering

📋 Description

• Partner with Data Science, Data Platform, Product, and Eng to define Roblox data ontology.
• Lead and mentor a growing team of Data Engineers.
• Design, build, and maintain batch and streaming data pipelines.
• Develop scalable frameworks and tooling to automate analytics workflows and data products.
• Establish and evangelize best practices for data operations and lifecycle management.
• Collaborate with Data Science, Experimentation, ML, and Data Infra teams.

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years building scalable ETL pipelines with SQL, PySpark, or Scala.
• Experience with Airflow, Dagster, Luigi, Cloud Composer, or similar.
• 3+ years leading data engineering with business or data science stakeholders.
• Built and scaled multi-TB data sets; strong analytics tooling.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Developed or enhanced ETL orchestration tools or frameworks.
• GitOps workflow experience (branches, PRs, CI/CD).
