📋 Description

• Lead initiatives to produce an industry-leading vector database in Elasticsearch.
• Build new search features and fix bugs; invent or adopt algorithms as needed.
• Collaborate with a globally distributed team on vector search capabilities.
• Expertise in vector similarity for search relevance; contribute to design/implementation.
• Engage with community on issues and PRs; triage or own tasks as needed.
• Write idiomatic modern Java; Elasticsearch is 99.8% Java.

🎯 Requirements

• Vector similarity experience; knowledge of HNSW, IVF, or related algorithms.
• Strong core Java skills; data structures, concurrency, lambdas.
• Autonomy to drive projects end-to-end; technical design and mentoring.
• Excellent verbal/written communication; collaborative online work.
• Experience with Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
