Principal Software Engineer - Vector Search - Elasticsearch

📋 Description

• Lead vector search initiatives for Elasticsearch to improve vector similarity and search relevance.
• Contribute to Elasticsearch features, fix bugs, and design new algorithms or data structures.
• Collaborate with a globally distributed team of engineers focused on vector search capabilities.
• Serve as an expert on vector similarity within Elasticsearch and related components.
• Engage with the community on issues and pull requests, sometimes triaging or taking ownership.
• Write idiomatic modern Java and work with core Java libraries and concurrency constructs.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven work in vector similarity on large-scale search platforms; experience with HNSW, IVF, or
• Strong Java skills and deep knowledge of data structures and concurrency.
• Ability to work autonomously, drive projects end-to-end, and collaborate across teams.
• Experience collaborating over the internet; asynchronous, direct, and transparent communication.
• Experience with data storage technologies like Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
