Prinicpal Software Engineer - Streaming Primitives

📋 Description

• Define and drive the technical direction for Snowflake's core data engineering and streaming
• Lead multi-quarter investments in performance, scalability, correctness, and reliability
• Partner with product, research, and engineering teams to design clean primitives
• Operate as a force multiplier: architectural reviews and high-quality mentorship
• Engage with customers/field teams to prioritize real-world usage signals
• Contribute to Snowflake's technical reputation through design influence and research

🎯 Requirements

• 15+ years designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed data systems
• Deep expertise in stream processing, declarative query execution, pipeline orchestration, or data
• Strong CS fundamentals — distributed systems, algorithms, fault tolerance, consistency models
• Proficiency in C++ or Java; systems-level reasoning on latency, throughput, and resource efficiency
• Proven ability to lead cross-team technical initiatives from architecture to production at petabyte
• Excellent written and verbal communication for engineering, product, and leadership audiences
