Product Counsel

📋 Description

• Act as embedded counsel to AI and R&D teams, advising on product design, model development, and
• Advise on health data throughout the AI lifecycle: HIPAA and HITECH, business associate
• Counsel on AI-specific risk, including training data provenance and licensing, third-party model
• Draft and negotiate agreements: data licenses, model and infrastructure provider terms, research
• Build legal infrastructure for AI development scaling: intake and review processes, launch
• Partner with Privacy, Security, Regulatory, Clinical, Trust & Safety, and Marketing on AI

🎯 Requirements

• J.D. and active membership in California bar (or eligibility for in-house counsel registration in
• Approximately 5-9 years of legal experience including meaningful in-house time supporting
• Demonstrated experience as product counsel embedded with engineering and product teams
• Healthcare data fluency: HIPAA, business associate relationships, de-identification standards, PHI
• Working knowledge of AI/ML legal issues: training data rights, model licensing, output liability
• Genuine hands-on facility with AI tools and technical curiosity
