Regulatory Counsel, APAC

📋 Description

• Lead responses to regulatory requests; assess impact; assemble data; draft replies.
• Meet with regulators to explain Discord's compliance approach and build trust.
• Prepare risk assessments, online safety reports, and other regulator reports.
• Monitor new regulations with Policy Legal and Product Legal; provide analyses.
• Collaborate with Public Policy and Communications on engagement and narratives.
• Maintain canonical templates for privacy, security, teen safety, and related topics.

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years in regulatory law for Internet regulation (online safety, privacy, data protection).
• Licensed to practice law in Australia.
• Experience with a company in communications/messaging, content or gaming.
• Deep knowledge of Australia’s regulatory landscape across platform regulations, privacy, data protection, and consumer protection.
• Familiarity with APAC regulatory environments, or ability to ramp up quickly on regional requirements.
• Experience preparing responses to information requests, risk assessments, and regulatory reports.
