Senior Corporate Counsel, Product

📋 Description

• Serve as a trusted partner for DigitalOcean’s technical and non-technical teams, including Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Operations.
• Assess legal risks in product development: privacy, regulatory, licensing, and IP concerns, to support lifecycle from design through launch.
• Identify and resolve legal issues related to customer data, privacy, security, export control, OSS, and responsible AI.
• Help shape the long-term strategy, structure, and priorities of the product counsel function.
• Advise on US and global privacy laws (CCPA and GDPR) and emerging AI regulations to ensure global compliance.
• Support drafting and negotiation of complex commercial and data protection agreements to facilitate launches and safeguard interests.

🎯 Requirements

• JD from an accredited law school; active bar in at least one U.S. state.
• 8+ years of in-house SaaS/PaaS/IaaS product development experience.
• Track record counseling AI product/engineering teams across the lifecycle.
• Low-ego, hands-on, growth mindset; eager to learn and take ownership.
• Translate complex legal advice into actionable guidance for Product/Engineering/Operations.
• Strong understanding of US/global privacy, IP, OSS, AI, and data security.
