📋 Description

• Senior legal advisor on charitable and exempt-organization law.
• Guide on nonprofit tax compliance, grantmaking, fiscal sponsorship, due diligence, and advocacy
• Advise leadership on donor advised funds, international grants, and mission-related investments.
• Review and develop legal agreements, grant documents, policies, and templates.
• Lead legal reviews for new programs, identifying risks and mitigation strategies.
• Provide guidance on election-related activities and communications compliance.

🎯 Requirements

• Juris Doctor and California law license or in-house counsel status.
• 8+ years in charitable sector law: nonprofit tax, exempt compliance, grants, and/or
• Experience advising charitable orgs, public foundations, or similar entities.
• Principal knowledge of 501(c)(3) requirements, grantmaking compliance, governance.
• Experience with mission-related/program-related investments preferred.
• Familiarity with fiscal sponsorship, intermediary orgs, or multi-entity structures.
