Senior Engineering Manager, Agent Context

📋 Description

• Lead the Agent Context team in NYC; own AI search, retrieval, and work-graph reasoning.
• Own retrieval stack end-to-end: lexical/semantic search, embeddings, backfill at scale.
• Build/evaluate retrieval quality: recall/precision, offline/online evals, backend comparisons.
• Balance latency, cost, and quality to optimize LLM call load.
• Set embedding ownership and rollout guidance; maintain platform posture.
• Hire and grow senior engineers across time zones; align with PM on roadmap.

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years software engineering; 3+ years managing engineers on infra or ML teams.
• Shipped/operated production search, retrieval, or ML-serving systems at scale.
• Deep knowledge of retrieval stack: inverted indexes, BM25, vector search, embedding models.
• Experience building ML/AI evaluation systems: golden datasets, recall/precision, online experiments.
• Able to review design docs for embedding backfill or OpenSearch mapping; provide sharp feedback.
• Led distributed time-zone teams; strong written communication; LLM/RAG experience preferred.
