Senior Engineering Manager, Postgres

📋 Description

• Lead, coach, and grow a high-performing team through clear expectations, feedback, development, and
• Own outcomes across provisioning, fleet management, failover, point-in-time recovery, upgrades
• Turn customer and business needs into a multi-quarter roadmap with incremental milestones.
• Guide architecture and help senior engineers make explicit, sound tradeoffs.
• Raise operational quality across SLOs, on-call, incidents, maintenance, and automation.
• Work directly with customers and turn recurring pain into product improvements.

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years in software engineering, including 3+ years managing engineers in infrastructure
• Experience building and operating a customer-facing stateful service with demanding availability
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL or managed relational databases, including replication, WAL, high
• Technical credibility to engage deeply in architecture and incidents without owning daily
• A record of hiring, coaching, developing, and retaining engineers, including senior ICs.
• Strong execution judgment across ambiguity, parallel workstreams, risk, and long-term system health.
