Senior Software Engineer (Backend / Full Stack), Communications Platform

📋 Description

• Design, build, and operate the high-throughput, low-latency infrastructure that powers communication for tens of millions of daily users.
• Lead end-to-end delivery of complex technical initiatives: from requirements to production.
• Build APIs and client libraries for internal teams and Roblox's creator community.
• Define technical direction: API contracts, core primitives, risk, and safety.
• Partner with Product, Design, QA, and across engineering to scope and deliver high-quality products.
• Own production reliability: on-call, performance improvements, and operational health.
• Mentor and level up engineers through code review and knowledge sharing.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years backend or full-stack with ownership of large-scale systems.
• Distributed systems thinker; design and operate services under load.
• Proficient in C#, Java, Go, or C++ with large codebases; may involve client work.
• Clear communicator; write sharp technical specs and trade-offs.
• End-to-end owner; drive projects from requirements to production.
• Product-opinionated; shape roadmap and push for right outcomes.
