Senior Software Engineer, Event Streaming Systems

📋 Description

• Design, build and operate large-scale event streaming infra for critical workloads.
• Improve reliability, scalability, observability and automation of Kafka and EventBus.
• Debug distributed systems issues, including bottlenecks and reliability challenges.
• Build automation and self-healing capabilities to reduce toil.
• Partner with EventBus, Storage, SRE, Data Platform and Core Infra across US/EU.
• Help shape long-term architecture of Deliveroo’s event streaming platform.

🎯 Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience building or operating distributed systems in production.
• Experience with Kafka or similar event streaming systems as a platform or production dependency.
• Strong coding ability in Java, Go, Python or similar languages for production systems.
• Experience operating scalable production infrastructure, debugging and improving reliability.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure automation, observability, capacity management and operational excellence.
• Good fundamentals in Linux, networking and JVM-based systems.
