Senior Software Engineer II Virtualization

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, and implement the core virtualization stack for Droplet.
• Collaborate with Observability to collect metrics and improve products.
• Engage in peer reviews for changes to DO systems.
• Contribute to retrospectives for agile process improvements.
• Develop and lead test plans to ensure reliability and prevent incidents.
• Maintain the VM stack and accelerate GPU-enabled virtualization for AI workloads.

🎯 Requirements

• Linux OS expertise; comfortable developing and operating software on Linux.
• Deep experience with QEMU, KVM, Linux kernel and libvirt; strong C.
• Proven problem solving at scale; drive homogenization across the fleet.
• Strong security mindset; proactive about security best practices.
• Excellent cross-team collaboration with engineers across teams.
• Debian packaging experience.
• Go, Python, or Ruby experience.
• Experience with Chef, AWX, or Kubernetes.
