Senior Software Engineer; Middleware

📋 Description

• Design and build core parts of the compute engine powering Amplitude analysis
• Evolve the compute API and semantic layer used by teams for a generic table
• Unify and evolve the core data model, including non-event data alongside event data
• Improve performance, reliability, and scalability of query planning and execution
• Collaborate with Session Replay, Experiment, CDP, Query, and frontend teams to shape compute
• Take ownership of projects end-to-end from design through rollout

🎯 Requirements

• Strong backend or distributed-systems experience, ideally with OLAP DBs or data infra
• Experience with SQL, query planning, or building widely used APIs
• Ability to balance flexibility, performance, and simplicity in tradeoffs
• Proven track record owning cross-team, end-to-end projects
• Strong cross-functional collaboration; work ties to product outcomes
