Senior Software Security Engineer

📋 Description

• Engineer security improvements to the GitLab product; build abuse detection/prevention tools.
• Core maintainer for in-house abuse platform (Rails monolith); add features.
• Improve AI capabilities for abuse mitigation; reduce human-in-the-loop load.
• Lead collaboration with peer engineering teams to deliver safety improvements.
• Resolve automation gaps; create efficient automated processes.
• Create and maintain runbooks and procedures.

🎯 Requirements

• Strong software development with Ruby/Rails.
• Experience with distributed apps in cloud environments (GCP/AWS).
• Comfortable working in a fully remote environment; focus on results.
• Cloud native development experience (GCP and/or AWS).
• Proactive security mindset; think like a hacker; automation-first approach.
• Experience on AI-native development teams maintaining agent systems; code review.
