Software Engineer, Backend - Distributed Systems

📋 Description

• Design, build, and maintain backend services for Camunda's distributed streaming platform.
• Lead medium-to-large initiatives (3+ months) from problem to delivery.
• Mature disaster recovery and online backup/restore; multi-region support.
• Design and implement developer and operator tooling for production ops.
• Improve engineering effectiveness with DevOps and CI collaboration.
• Participate in L3 support and on-call rotations.

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering, backend/distributed systems.
• Proven experience leading medium-to-large initiatives (3+ months).
• Hands-on experience building highly concurrent, data-intensive software.
• Autonomous, able to navigate ambiguity with minimal supervision.
• Strong remote-first communication and collaboration.
• Nice to have: workflow automation or distributed algorithms (Raft, SWIM, CRDTs).
