Software Engineer - Science Platform (BE) - Seattle

📋 Description

• Build and evolve data pipelines fetching KPI data from BigQuery across geographies.
• Extend the statistical estimation library; implement estimators and improve standard errors.
• Improve Metaflow-based orchestration that schedules thousands of daily analyses on Kubernetes.
• Design for reliability: monitoring, alerting, and self-healing patterns for daily pipelines.
• Collaborate with applied scientists to translate research into production-grade code with tests.
• Work with product engineers to publish analysis results to the customer API/frontend.

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years of experience building and shipping production software.
• Strong Python proficiency with pandas, numpy, pytest, and poetry.
• Experience with large datasets, data pipelines, or ETL systems.
• SQL and analytical databases (BigQuery, Snowflake) with performant queries.
• Cloud-native environments (GCP preferred): deploy, monitor, and operate in production.
• Workflow orchestration (Metaflow, Airflow, Dagster, Prefect).
• Experience with AI development tools (Claude, Cursor, Copilot) in workflow.
• Ability to collaborate with scientists; comfortable reading statistical code.
• Excellent communication across disciplines.
