Solutions Engineer

📋 Description

• Partner with Sales and Customer Engineering to solve database problems.
• Lead technical discovery aligning objectives with PlanetScale offerings.
• Design and execute proof-of-value timelines with business outcomes.
• Plan migrations to PostgreSQL and Vitess; guide customer migrations.
• Assess workloads; recommend architecture, sizing, and optimization.
• Build tools and automation to speed migrations and onboarding.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years hands-on MySQL or PostgreSQL production experience (ops, performance, troubleshooting).
• 5+ years supporting customers with MySQL or PostgreSQL workloads
• Experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or OCI
• Proven success in customer-facing technical roles (Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer, TAM)
• Strong understanding of database migration strategies and tooling
• Experience evaluating database solutions incl. architecture reviews, capacity planning, performance analysis
