Staff Backend Engineer, Database Automation (Go)

📋 Description

• Design, build, and maintain Go-based automation that manages the full PostgreSQL lifecycle
• Build automation that works across infrastructure-as-code tooling and cloud infrastructure, and
• Use AI agents as a regular part of building and operating services, including implementation
• Build for internet scale by designing automation and services for high-throughput, always-on
• Integrate compute, storage, networking, identity and access management, and managed data services
• Build GitLab's PostgreSQL as a service platform to replace bespoke database setups with

🎯 Requirements

• Professional software engineering experience with PostgreSQL in large, complex production
• Proficiency with Go for designing, building, and reviewing backend services.
• Experience development with Kubernetes, controllers, operators or automation for databases
• Comfort with infrastructure as code and database operations concepts including high availability
• Familiarity with Ruby is a plus, including learning Ruby on Rails
• Strong written communication and comfort with async, distributed work in an all-remote setting
