Staff Engineer, Billing

📋 Description

• Define the architecture of Billing's extensibility platform, setting scalable patterns
• Identify extension points in Stripe Billing; partner with Billing teams to turn them into features
• Own end-to-end technical solutions for complex problems in an evolving product
• Build resilient systems to handle failures from user-authored logic in billing
• Drive adoption of Billing extensions among external customers and internal teams
• Collaborate with Billing leadership, PMs, and Extensibility teams to define the tech roadmap

🎯 Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering experience leading large, cross-team projects
• Technical lead on a team building external-facing products for customers
• Deep software architecture knowledge: distributed systems, SOA, and resilient design
• Ability to align across organizational boundaries without direct authority
• Strong written and verbal communication; clear technical docs for technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience in fintech, payments, or billing systems
