Staff Engineer, Billing

📋 Description

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-volume billing systems with Forter.
• Lead projects from concept to production with financial integrity.
• Work on data-driven initiatives to improve performance and billing accuracy.
• Partner with Product and Business to navigate trade-offs affecting Forter's bottom line.
• Use AI coding tools; review and guide AI-generated code daily.
• Foster best practices and engineering excellence across teams.

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years in production backend or data infra; at least 2 years at Staff level.
• Excellent teamwork and communication; explain complex systems clearly.
• Strong backend fundamentals; Python primary language.
• Proven production ownership: monitoring, troubleshooting, reliability.
• Experience with AWS and storage at scale (MySQL, Snowflake, Redis).
• Nice to have: Elasticsearch; Airflow, Kafka, Delta Lake; Kubernetes; billing ERP.
