Staff Forward Deployed Engineer

📋 Description

• Contribute production-grade code to GitLab product and adjacent systems.
• Develop fixes, features, or tooling to deliver strategic customer outcomes.
• Follow processes: issues, MR, tests, review, docs, maintainability.
• Influence product direction with customer-driven solutions.
• Translate blockers into durable product improvements and patterns.
• Engage strategic customers; diagnose complex product and infra issues.

🎯 Requirements

• Staff-level experience building/operating complex production software.
• Contribute to large, mature product codebases with high testing standards.
• Strong Ruby/Rails or Go experience; contribute to GitLab surface.
• Diagnose complex system behavior across apps, data stores, infra, APIs.
• Deep DevSecOps knowledge: Git, CI/CD, security controls, compliance.
• Experience with strategic customers or senior technical stakeholders.
• Coordinate across Product, Eng, SRE, Support, CSA, CSM, PS without authority.
• Strong written communication skills.
