Staff Machine Learning Engineer

📋 Description

• Build scalable systems for training and fine-tuning large-scale generative models to produce
• Lead RL algorithm implementations, reward functions, and training paradigms for high-fidelity
• Develop DL models and Generative AI (LLM/VLM) to automate triage and analyze driving data.
• Oversee production/optimization of ML models across Waymo’s fleet monitoring tasks.
• Monitor and adopt best practices from Alphabet to create RLHF data collection/evaluation systems.
• Collaborate with Prediction, Planning, Research, and leadership to drive strategic ML initiatives.

🎯 Requirements

• M.S. or Ph.D. in CS/ML/AI or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years in ML with strong RL focus.
• Deep learning, sequence modeling, and generative models expertise.
• Strong publication record or impactful project delivery in RL.
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (e.g., JAX, TensorFlow).
• Experience with large-scale distributed training and data processing.
