Staff Machine Learning Engineer - Retrieval (x/f/m)

📋 Description

• Build and own the Medical Knowledge Platform grounded in validated sources
• Design and maintain indexing pipelines and retrieval systems end-to-end
• Operate at scale: 100M+ documents, 50+ req/s, sub-300ms latency
• Build custom re-rankers and optimize query processing pipelines
• Develop deep RAG systems beyond off-the-shelf components
• Work across the full retrieval stack: embeddings, vector search, re-ranking, query rewriting

🎯 Requirements

• Proven production experience building and scaling search and retrieval
• Deep dual expertise in offline indexing and online retrieval; own full pipeline
• Hands-on with Elasticsearch, Solr, Vertex AI, vector search, embeddings, re-ranking
• Built custom re-rankers and optimized indexing pipelines
• Operated at senior or staff level with autonomy and depth
• Experience with medical knowledge sources or healthcare data
