Staff Network Engineer, Backbone

📋 Description

• Provide technical leadership for backbone design, deployment, operation, and improvements.
• Lead backbone expansion projects (PoP deployments, upgrades, capacity expansions).
• Drive reliability, resiliency, scalability, and service availability.
• Investigate and resolve routing, optical, and transport issues across multi-vendor environments.
• Architect automation for provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and workflows using Python, Ansible, APIs, and IaC.
• Mentor engineers and drive post-incident reviews for long-term improvements.

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years designing and operating large-scale backbone or hyperscale networks.
• Proven experience leading technical initiatives with measurable impact.
• Deep expertise with SR-MPLS, IS-IS, BGP, Segment Routing, EVPN.
• Strong systems-level understanding of Linux, networking, and automation.
• Network automation with Python, Ansible, APIs, Git, CI/CD, and IaC.
• Experience with Nokia SR OS and Juniper Junos.
• Ability to influence tech direction without direct authority.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Eng, Telecommunications, CS, or related field.
