Staff Photonics Design Engineer

📋 Description

• Design and optimize silicon photonic devices for laser systems.
• Layout device test structures and complex integrated photonic systems.
• Work with characterization to develop test plans and analyze results.
• Coordinate with packaging and systems engineering on integration.
• Apply rigorous simulation and testing to calibrate designs across variability.
• Solve problems and contribute to new device designs.
• Publish photonics results and present at optics/photonics conferences.

🎯 Requirements

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, or related field with 3 years' experience
• Experience in silicon photonics device design, layout, and testing
• Proven track record designing silicon photonics components using Lumerical or Tidy3D
• Python modeling and data analysis skills
• Experience with integrated lasers and SOAs
• Excellent communication and collaboration across teams
• Strong problem-solving skills with ambiguous problems
• Can-do, positive attitude
