Staff R&D Software Engineer, Fivetran AI

📋 Description

• Research retrieval, reasoning, and agentic AI techniques; decide what's worth pursuing.
• Prototype ideas quickly and turn them into production-ready features.
• Define technical direction across multiple teams and translate high-level goals into concrete plans.
• Build backend and frontend systems for the Fivetran AI product, including Agents Schema pipelines and Context Catalog UI.
• Own production reliability: on-call rotation, incident response, and SRE work to scale for AI workloads.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to hiring; raise the technical bar across teams.

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years in Python and/or Java; full-stack capability.
• Trusted expert beyond your team; influence across multiple teams.
• Comfortable reading AI/ML research and turning findings into production features.
• Strong SQL and data warehouse experience (BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks).
• Experience with coding agents or AI tooling to speed up engineering work.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to hiring; own technical direction.
