Staff Scientist — Marine Acoustics

📋 Description

• Shape underwater acoustics strategy and platform vision.
• Develop detection, classification, and localization for underwater objects.
• Create acoustic maps and characterize ambient soundscapes.
• Advise on sensing system design, deployment, data quality, and validation.
• Collaborate with ocean scientists, software, and firmware teams to translate research.
• Coordinate field experiments and simulations to evaluate performance.

🎯 Requirements

• Deep expertise in underwater acoustics.
• Experience with sensing systems/algorithms for detection, localization, mapping.
• Understanding of marine propagation, ambient noise, and signal processing.
• Experience with real-world acoustic datasets, field deployments, or operations.
• Experience applying statistical signal processing or ML/AI methods to acoustic tasks.
• PhD or equivalent with strong ocean acoustics reputation; enthusiasm for ML/LLMs.
