Staff Software Engineer

📋 Description

• Own payments domain: collections, revenue split, treasury ops, and activation bridge.
• Own billing engine: subscription lifecycle, renewals, grace periods, mid-cycle changes.
• Own integration layer: Splynx adapter, webhooks, external notifications.
• Architectural decisions: service boundaries, event contracts (Kafka), API design.
• Write production code, review teammates, unblock the team.
• Senior IC; no people management; you will build systems.

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering; at least 3 years backend handling financials.
• Deep TypeScript/Node.js expertise; design a NestJS microservice from scratch.
• Production experience with payment gateway integrations (M-Pesa, Stripe, Adyen, etc.); know STK push, webhooks, reconciliation.
• Strong PostgreSQL skills; design schemas, migrations, isolation/locking.
• Experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• AI-augmented engineering mindset; daily use of AI tools (Claude/Copilot); review AI specs.
