Staff Software Engineer

📋 Description

• Join the dbt Core team to tackle high-leverage system problems in the data stack.
• Work on the Python-based dbt-core engine, identifying performance bottlenecks and improving
• Design and implement enhancements to the adapter framework connecting dbt to databases and data
• Own distributed systems, troubleshoot production issues, and participate in on-call rotations.
• Contribute to technical design discussions and roadmaps for scalable, reliable software.
• Mentor engineers and uphold high standards for code quality and testing.

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software development in backend systems.
• Deep backend engineering experience with Python.
• Strong problem-solving with Linux systems knowledge (process scheduling, memory, file systems).
• Solid grasp of database internals: query execution, storage, indexing, transactions.
• Excellent communication and ownership, balancing depth with fast delivery.
• Preferred: experience in data warehousing/analytics engineering, Go or Rust production code
