Staff Software Engineer, Cloud Data Storage

📋 Description

• Design & build distributed data systems for petabytes of workflow history.
• Own the custom persistence stack for Temporal Cloud (WAL, Cassandra, etcd).
• Document design choices and operational knowledge for deployment and operation.
• Design APIs, schemas, and replication paths for durable, queryable history.
• Drive reliability: own SLOs, chaos tests, hot-path profiling, incident reviews.
• Lead cross-team collaboration with Server, Cloud, and DX teams end-to-end.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years building scalable distributed systems (Arranger/Builder).
• Strong CS fundamentals in distributed systems, multi-threading, concurrency.
• Production-grade code in Go or Java or similar (advanced/expert).
• Experience building/running services on AWS; Azure/GCP a plus.
• Experience with Elasticsearch and/or ClickHouse.
• Nice to have: Temporal/Cadence contributions; storage domain expertise.
