Staff Software Engineer, Data-Driven Behaviors

📋 Description

• Lead data pipelines powering ML for Waymo Driver decisions
• Prototype data pipelines and finetune models quickly
• Deploy ML models to fleet with end-to-end validation
• Collaborate with perception, research, simulation, evaluation
• Mentor engineers in data-first reasoning approaches
• Hybrid role reporting to an Engineering Manager

🎯 Requirements

• Applied ML experience: data shaping, feature engineering, loss/reward shaping
• Scalable eval workflows and ML metric development
• Experience with large-scale models/datasets; strong API design
• Experience solving cross-component design problems
• PhD, Masters or Bachelors in CS, ML, Robotics or related field
• Experience with LLMs, VLMs, DL or RL preferred

🎁 Benefits

• Base salary: $251,000 – $310,000 USD
