Staff Software Engineer, Editing Performance - Design experience

📋 Description

• Join Canva's Editing Performance team to keep the editor fast, smooth & reliable.
• Work on core editor architecture using TypeScript with React Native and native surfaces.
• Design, develop & deploy solutions with engineers, designers & PMs.
• Drive performance improvements using instrumentation & data.
• Build tools/frameworks to empower other engineers at Canva.
• Own complex problems from idea to delivery and share knowledge.

🎯 Requirements

• Strong commercial software engineering exp on large apps, SDKs or APIs.
• Deep TypeScript exp; comfortable with large codebases and systems/types you didn’t build.
• Experience in architecture decisions & solving complex problems.
• Skilled with performance data, dashboards & prioritisation by evidence.
• Solid CS fundamentals: async programming, data structures, design patterns.
• Curious about under‑the‑hood performance; browser rendering, WebWorkers, WebGL/WebGPU a plus.
