Staff Software Engineer (Repositories)

📋 Description

• Own the technical direction for Chainguard Repository tech: registries, APIs, and serving systems.
• Design, build, and operate high-availability Go backends for libraries now and future artifact repos.
• Lead scalability, reliability, observability, and load testing for production systems.
• Drive architecture decisions for repository infra at scale.
• Partner with Libraries, Build Platform, Delivery, Product, and Security to broaden artifacts.
• Mentor engineers and shape processes in a fast-moving team.

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years building/operating production backend or infra with staff ownership.
• Strong Go experience or deep backend skills with ramp in Go.
• Experience with package registries, artifact repos, APIs, or high-scale services.
• Production deployment focus on reliability, observability, and performance.
• Comfort across app and infra layers; Terraform and cloud infra.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, esp. in remote teams.
