Staff Software Engineer, Search

📋 Description

• Be the technical lead for a new Search team at Babylist.
• Build search capability in-house, making search results more relevant and personalized.
• Partner with other teams to transform search from functional to delightful.
• Set direction for search over the next year or two, sequence bets, and make technical and product
• Stay in the code and drive initiatives forward across multiple teams.
• Choose architecture for indexing, retrieval, and serving; plan seamless migration.

🎯 Requirements

• Hands-on search experience: building and running search in production, including indexing
• Experience evaluating search quality: offline and online, including relevance judgments and A/B
• Focus on the user: use query data, behavior, and judgment about result quality to decide what to
• Comfort building from zero: can define the problem, design the system, and own it end to end.
• Measures self by impact: customer outcome or a system a dozen teams depend on.
• Meets the Staff bar at Babylist: has shipped production systems for enough years, holds strong
