Staff Software Engineer, Service Communications

📋 Description

• Architect service mesh features using Envoy for discovery and observability.
• Lead org-wide adoption of service identity and mTLS for secure service paths.
• Design locality-aware routing to reduce data transfer costs.
• Maintain and modernize libraries in Java, Python, and C++ for dev productivity.
• Collaborate with service owners to refine infrastructure requirements.
• Partner on multi-region and multi-cloud strategies for robust service communication.

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years in infrastructure or platform engineering for distributed systems or RPC frameworks.
• Deep expertise in service mesh (Envoy/Istio) including L7 proxying.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, C++ and building internal libraries/tools.
• Strong understanding of service security: mTLS and SPIFFE/SPIRE.
• Proven ability to design highly available and scalable distributed systems.
• Experience driving adoption of complex platform capabilities across cross-functional teams.
