Staff Software Engineer (SF)

📋 Description

• Lead major initiatives within Shepherd's platform across data collection, automated underwriting
• Own a large area of product experience in verticals and drive technical decisions for your domain
• Collaborate across stack and disciplines (underwriting, design, product management)
• Mentor other engineers and help scale the team while balancing innovation with pragmatic delivery
• Contribute to product strategy and architectural decisions, not just implementation
• Collaborate with PM, CTO, and insurance teams to align engineering with business goals

🎯 Requirements

• Experience with frontend: React, Next.js, TypeScript, GraphQL with Apollo
• Backend: Node.js, PostgreSQL, Redis, TypeScript, GraphQL APIs
• Strong track record delivering high-impact products (8+ years)
• InsurTech or insurance domain experience is a plus
• Ability to work across disciplines and communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
