Staff Systems Engineer, Hardware Architecture

📋 Description

• Hybrid role reporting to a Systems Architect
• Lead multi-attribute trade studies to define next-gen Waymo Driver architecture
• Develop and analyze architecture for Self-Driving System with safety focus
• Collaborate across Software, Hardware, Sensing, Compute, Safety, Reliability teams
• Define key system interfaces and behaviors for cohesive design
• Present technical recommendations to senior leadership with data/analysis

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s in Engineering (EE, ME, CS, Aerospace) or related field
• 5+ years in systems architecture/engineering or complex design
• Proven ability to lead cross-disciplinary trade studies
• Strong focus on high availability and safety-critical design
• Deep understanding of autonomous system components (Sensing, Compute, Software, Networking)
• Outstanding cross-functional communication and collaboration
