Staff Systems Engineer - Perception

📋 Description

• Own the system-level architecture, requirements, and performance of Apollo’s perception suite.
• Translate high-level autonomy capabilities into verifiable system requirements (latency budgets
• Lead trade studies, define ICDs, establish the V&V strategy, and ensure functional safety
• Interface between the Autonomy software team and Hardware engineering teams.
• Drive complex trade studies and MBSE mentoring across the company.

🎯 Requirements

• Perception domain expertise (cameras, LiDAR, Radar, ToF, IMU) and physics/measurement models.
• Autonomy familiarity: perception data consumption by SLAM, object detection, planning, and sensor
• Systems rigor: requirements traceability and V&V for shipped products.
• Ability to build models in Python or MATLAB to simulate latency and optical performance.
• 8+ years in Systems Engineering for complex robotics or related fields.
• BS/MS/PhD in Systems Engineering, Robotics, EE, CS, or related field.
