Supervisor, Health Information Coding

📋 Description

• Supervise daily coding service activities, ensuring departmental quality, productivity, compliance
• Monitor data abstraction processes to ensure relevant clinical information is accurately extracted
• Research, coordinate, and respond to coding and billing requests from internal and external
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to resolve payer requests and denials, determine appropriate
• Mentor coding staff and provide ongoing education, training, and guidance on coding policies
• Keep current with industry standards, coding guidelines, and regulatory requirements, updating

🎯 Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; a bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or a
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably within a large acute-care or
• Current Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification from AHIMA or Certified Professional Coder
• RHIA or RHIT certification is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of applicable healthcare coding regulations, standards, policies, and compliance
• Experience with ICD-10, CPT, and APR/DRG methodologies in hospital-focused coding environments is
