System Safety Engineer - Onboard SW Safety

📋 Description

• Lead cross-functional safety analyses and identify hazards and causes; assess safety risks; define
• Participate in software and product design/readiness reviews to ensure safety mitigations are
• Provide guidance on safety standards and best practices; help ensure Waymo and partners comply with
• Evaluate the ongoing effectiveness of risk control strategies and identify new hazards
• Provide leadership in defining, implementing, and improving System Safety processes and integrate

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
• 7+ years of relevant safety engineering experience including minimum 5 years in System Safety
• Strong ability to perform inductive/deductive safety analyses to identify hazards and risk
• Proficient in applying Systems Engineering principles; defining SMART safety
• Extensive background in risk management and aligning risk-based decisions with stakeholders
• Experience in writing code and unit tests; analyzing algorithmic structures in C, C++, and Python
