Translational ML Scientist

📋 Description

• Build diagnostic and prognostic models for Evvy's products.
• Work with shotgun metagenomics data and patient outcomes.
• Own models end-to-end: features, training, validation, production.
• Partner with leadership to define model goals and validation.
• Translate model outputs into clinician/patient tools.
• Set modeling standards for evaluation, validation, and uncertainty.

🎯 Requirements

• 5–8 years post-PhD or post-MS; PhD strongly preferred; exceptional MS OK.
• Strong ML and computational biology; able to discuss with ML engineers and biologists.
• Industry experience shipping ML or computational biology models (production-ready).
• Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch, scikit-learn); microbiome tools (QIIME2, MetaPhlAn, HUMAnN).
• Deep familiarity with microbiome data: compositionality, sparsity, batch effects.
• Cross-functional collaboration and product mindset; drive outcomes.
