Unit Cell Engineer, R&D

📋 Description

• Develop unit cell architecture and components for flow batteries to reduce cost.
• Develop sealing, manufacturing and assembly processes (injection moulding, bonding).
• Select materials based on electrochemical and mechanical properties.
• Source prototype components, design test cells, and develop testing methods.
• Conduct electrochemical and post-mortem analysis to identify root causes.
• Support transfer of de-risked tech to product teams per roadmap.

🎯 Requirements

• At least 3 years demonstrated experience in a similar role
• A strong understanding of electrochemical cell design and operation
• Knowledge of energy storage materials including polymers, carbon-based materials, and electrolytes
• Experience in low- and high-volume manufacturing methods such as machining, forming, injection moulding
• Expertise in designing and specifying components such as bipolar plates, seals and frames
• Familiarity with battery testing, failure analysis, and performance optimization
